At 11:45 pm an officer made contact with Troy Austin Burnette, 39, a known drug user at the intersection of Citizen Street and Palmer Street. During the contact, Burnette told the officer, "I know the routine. Go ahead and search me." After searching him, the officer asked Burnette to open his mouth. When he did, a piece of crack cocaine fell out of his mouth and onto the hood of the patrol car.

When the officer asked Burnette what the substance was, Burnette replied that he didn't know what it was and that it hadn't come from him.

Burnette was arrested for Possession of Crack Cocaine and jailed.
