At 10:00 pm an officer stopped a blue 1997 Ford truck at Orange Avenue and Houston Street for an equipment violation. when the officer walked up to the driver's door he could immediately smell the odor of cannabis emanating from inside the truck. When a second officer arrived, he also could smell the cannabis. the officers confronted the driver with the fact they could smell cannabis and asked for consent to search the truck. The driver agreed to give officers consent to search her vehicle.
In a pink bag an officer found an unmarked pill bottle which contained several pills. The officers were able to identify the pills as 5 MDMA pills, 14 Xanax and 1 Hydrocodone pill. Also in the pink bag was a baggie of cannabis and a grinder which had cannabis residue in it.
Inside a clothing bag found lying on the front passenger floorboard officers discovered a set of digital scales.
Also on the front passenger floorboard was a container which had over 20 grams of cannabis and nearly $1,000.00 in cash.
Post Miranda, the driver admitted knowing the drugs were in the vehicle.
Jessica Christine Willis, 23, was arrested for Possession of Cannabis Over 20 Grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of MDMA.
A short time after Willis had been booked into jail, a corrections deputy reported finding several partially smoked cannabis cigarettes in the bottom of Willis' purse. Willis was additionally charged with Introduction of Contraband into a County Detention Facility.
