Just before 6:00am, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a red GMC pickup at the intersection of Houston Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The vehicle was stopped because the officer had prior knowledge the driver of the vehicle did not have a valid license. A black male later identified as Marvin Brown, 23, of Green Cove Springs was in the extended cab part of the pickup. Brown was ordered to show his hand but failed to comply with the officers directions. Brown was taken into custody. Upon searching his person the officer discovered a set of digital scales. Brown stated he uses the scales for when he purchases marijuana so he does not get ripped off. Brown was arrested for resisting without violence and booked into jail.
