Officers have been investigation an allegation of child molestation over the past week involving a family of adoptive children. The investigation began when an 18 year old boy reported physical abuse occurring in the home at the hands of his father.

The boy told officers he had arrived home at 8:30 pm after playing video games at a nearby friend's house. His adoptive father was upset at the time he arrived home and slapped him in the back of the head three times. The boy later told an officer his 16 year old biological sister had told him their adoptive father had been touching her inappropriately over the past year. She also told the brother the father had been inappropriately touching the other two girls who also had been adopted. They are 13 and 11 years old.

The Department of Children and Families was called in to assist with the investigation. All three girls were interviewed and gave accounts of their adoptive father touching them inappropriately over the past year.

During an interview with officers, the adoptive father, Charles Michael Unbankes, 59, admitted he had been inappropriately touching the girls. Unbankes was arrested on three counts of Lewd and Lascivious Fondling and booked into jail. Unbankes is being held without bail.

As one of the victims is under 12 years old, Unbankes could face life in prison.
