New Police Officer Sworn In

Green Cove Springs' newest police officer was sworn in Tuesday night (11-3-09) at the regular meeting of the City Council. Officer Joshua Toon was officially given the Oath of Office by Mayor Felicia Hampshire. Officer Toon's badge was pinned on by his wife during the Badge Pinning Ceremony. Numerous friends and family members were on hand to witness the ceremony. Officer Toon is a former member of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Purple Safety Week

On Tuesday, November 3, 2009 Officers Luedtke and Toon gave a safety presentation to the kindegarten and first grade classes at Charles E. Bennett Elementary School as part of Purple Safety Week. Topics included stranger danger, staying safe while walking to and from school, how and when to call 911, fire safety and other topics. There was also a question and answer portion where the kids asked questions of the officers.
