CodeRed Emergency Notification System

The City of Green Cove Springs Police Department has joined forces with Clay County Emergency Management and implemented an emergency notification system called CodeRED, which is capable of placing as many as six thousand calls per hour to provide City residents and businesses with critical information in emergency situations. In the event that the system is activated for your area, the CodeRED system will automatically make up to three attempts to reach any telephone numbers that you have preregistered with the Green Cove Springs Police Department at www.gcspd.com.

The CodeRED system may be activated, for example, to broadcast evacuation orders and instructions; boil water orders; warnings of bomb threats, chemical spills, or gas leaks; alerts regarding missing persons; and reports of criminal activities in adjacent areas. Telephone calls may be placed to all persons who have their contact telephone numbers preregistered with the CodeRED system service or targeted at those who are located in an affected area.

In order to benefit from this emergency alert system, please take a few minutes and register your contact information today. Please note that the registration form is on a secure website, and when registering, you must provide your name, street address (which is needed in order that you be notified of situations particular to your geographic location), and up to two telephone numbers, either conventional or cellular. If you wish to register a business telephone number with this service, please enter the word 'Business' as the first name and the full business name as the last.

It is recommended that you register local telephone numbers only. If your alternate phone is out-of-State, you will receive Code Red Alerts at that number. If you are the resident member of a condo or homeowner association and your utilities are paid from a "master list", it is likely your local phone number will not be in the Code Red data base for emergency alerts unless you register with this application.

Please note that the CodeRED system will only be utilized in emergencies and all the data collected will only be utilized for emergency notification purposes. Questions regarding this new emergency notification system should be directed to the Green Cove Springs Police Department at 904.529.2220 or Clay County Emergency Management at 904.541-5450.
